I just want to celebrate.....

something my sis-in-law did, actually. She's been physically not well for quite a while - herniated discs, bone spurs in her neck and some cracks in one vertebra, fibromyalgia. A couple of years ago she had surgery for her gallbladder and they bungled it and she almost died, and she just never seemed to come back from it. She gained a *lot* of weight, couldn't do the stuff she loves to do (gardening, camping, stuff like that) and has just been miserable and depressed for ages.

The local fitness center was having a 'biggest loser' type contest, the prize being a Caribbean cruise. She decided to sign up, figuring she'd at least lose some weight, so something good would come of it no matter what. Final weigh-in was this week and she FUCKING WON.

I'm just so damn proud of her and so happy for her - she can garden again! She has energy, she's *happy*, her pain is less, and? she's *never* been on a vacation of any kind, and now she's going to go to the fucking CARIBBEAN. And she's a total water-baby, loves to swim, loves the ocean. So...yay!

She's had so much crap going on in her life, and so many health issues that just dragged her down - she totally deserves this break.

Me too! She just has to figure out who she's going to take with her. She told me she didn't want to take along somebody who had to be 'entertained' - if she just wants to sit on the deck and read, she doesn't want a traveling companion who'll get all pouty. So we shall see.

Thanks! I'm really happy for her - just talking to her on the phone, I can hear in her voice how much better she feels, and how much her outlook has improved.
