This guy makes videos of himself crying over his ex and posts them? And you watch them? That's very sad.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
He has a twitter. I follow it. He tweets his relationship woes for the whole world to see.

Sorry if I find it a bit disrespectful to ex and happen to have an opinion about it.

yikes I've got secondhand embarrassment just from this secret.

Goddammit. This bugs me for a different reasaon

[personal profile] chardmonster 2013-05-06 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Fucking public/private divide.

It isn't that Tobuscus is upset over his ex-girlfriend. Feelings are natural and you can't quite control them. Only how you react to them. I can understand that seeing someone you haven't gotten over cuddling with someone else is going to hurt.

But why the fuck does the internet need to see your intensely personal feelings??

I do not know his person, but your investment in how he deals with his break-up seems somewhat creepy. For all you know he got dumped by the love of his life, and he might never fully get over it.

[personal profile] visp 2013-05-06 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno. If the person is broadcasting his feels to his fanbase over the internet, it seems reasonable to be like "Woah, too much info, dude - can we go back to talking about games?"

Fair enough, I read a few more comments and it seems like he's displaying his relationship drama in public. That makes it different, but it's still his business how he mourns.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
It's his business, yeah, but it seems kinda disrespectful to the other person to broadcast your breakup angst and relationship drama to a YouTube subscriber base of 3-4 million.

There's a difference between "I got dumped by the love of my life and I'll never fully get over it" and "I got dumped by the love of my life and I'm going to share how little I'm getting over it with the entire internet."

I like Toby but don't watch his videos regularly and know nothing about his love life. I don't see anything unusual about him being upset about a breakup, but I get that listening to him talking about it online might be more than a little awkward. Still, you can always skip those videos.

wow that sounds very awkward to watch :|

(Anonymous) 2013-05-06 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
The only thing I watch by this guy is his literal trailers. Now I'm thinking I made a wise decisions to not look into his other videos.

You should watch the "Dramatic Song" and "My Head Itches." The first one never fails to make me laugh and the second one had me practically in stitches laughing. (I don't know much about its staying power, though, since I only saw it that one time because my phone is a dick and refuses to play it.)

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I don't blame you, OP. Exes who can't get over their past relationships and move on with their lives creep me out too. Exes are exes for a reason. Moping about the past and what you can't fix is wasted time when you could be out there improving yourself or finding something better. It's even more pathetic when the whining comes after the other person has found someone else and is happy in their new relationship.

I hate it when people use public platforms like that to whine about their personal problems. Especially ones that involve a very specific person or set of people.

Like it's fine to be upset and all.
But don't shove your personal drama down everyone else's throat.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
It's fine to be upset over a breakup, but... I dunno, it's always awkward when people bring their relationship baggage into things that don't involve their relationship baggage, and angsting about a breakup in an extremely public way when you have an audience as big as Toby's just feels really disrespectful to the other person involved, because now you're making their relationship drama extremely public, whether they wanted it to be or not.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
I fucking hate YouTubers as it is. Bullshit like this just makes me hate them more. Fucking keep the drama off of the Internet for chrissake. No one needs to see how well you're not handling your breakup.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
I find a lot of these comments ironic given that most people here frequent this site that basically allows people (albeit anonymous people) to air out their dirty laundry for the internet to see, most of which is indeed TMI.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
The anonymity makes all the difference. Yeah, it's often TMI, but the fact that they're opting for anonymity means they realize it's TMI, or at least not stuff that they want connected to actual people.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-08 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
This thread is old but: the thing is that he's trying to garner sympathy from his fanbase in a really petty kind of way. This goes beyond venting when he starts taking advantage of his popularity by trying to get people to rally to his side, possibly even against the ex-gf.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
He tweeted like what, two or three times about this? I think that's a reasonable amount of 'crying'.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Does that make it any less rude or awkward? Does his ex deserve no privacy/respect just because he wants to be a child?
