Because now I can't stop overanalyzing it, for me the scariest moment is when they uncover the other side of the mountain and we see all the squiggly holes. That's when I just said "No." because, thanks to the caveman dream, I knew what was coming. So the actual ending wasn't the "AHHHH OH MY GOD!" moment, but it was still terrifying. All those people are gonna start crawling out of the holes, but nobody is going to recognize them as people. They'll be completely cut off from society and seen as monsters and who knows? Maybe they're still aware of it. And there's no reason for it except that some thing decided to toy with them (again, we don't know if it actually was punishing them, that might have just been their perception). It's a lot like I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, now that I think of it.

...I think that's all I have to say. I didn't mean to tl;dr this much, I am not even a huge fan, I just saw this on tumblr a couple weeks ago and I had fun picking it apart.

^ THIS! Imagining the pain of going through that, mercilessly shuffling forward without being able to do anything about it... ugh. Maybe it's my fear of losing control speaking, but I was on the verge of having a mental breakdown (not the screaming kind, rather a good cry in the nearest corner) when the last pages came up.

A grueson btw: I imagine that their bodies will break completely when they get out of those holes and the mountain can't support them anymore, and they will die in pain I gag to think about.

Ugh.
