Man I thought I was the only one who did this. Like I straight up cannot listen to most Ulver albums before October.

It doesn't seems word at all: it actually, this makes a lot of sense.

Different times of year / different emotions evoked ----> cravings for different music.

I and a lot of my friends are the same way.
For me, it's punk and goth rock in the summer, industrial and IDM in the winter.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Not quite the same, but I only listen to Leonard Cohen when it rains.

Actually... Now that I think about it, I kinda do this too.

My writing preferences are seasonal, too. I wanted to write a work for a fandom that is very winter-centric, but I found out I couldn't. That's awkward. Now I need to wait until the next winter comes.

Not necessarily seasonally, but there's certain music I definitely only listen to at certain rare times. On the other hand, I very consciously change my desktop background seasonally and at very few other times.

I do that too, and it never occurred to me that it might be weird. Different seasons and weather influence my mood and my emotions, so it makes sense to me that I'd want to listen to different music at different times of the year.

I'm pretty much like this too. A lot of my playlists are organized by season (or, alternatively, by weather). But music is also particularly strongly tied to memories for me as well, so once I've listened to a song/playlist/artist for awhile, it will usually be forever linked to that particular time in my life. So the seasons might follow from that in part.

I have some season-centric playlists so when a season rolls around, I can jump straight to all the music I associate with it. Good times. Doesn't seem weird to me.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-08 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
I definitely do this, too. I listen to different music at different times of the day and in different weather conditions. Different atmospheres call for different music, nothing weird about it at all!

(Anonymous) 2013-05-08 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I do this for times of day rather than times of year.

My thing is that I only listen to Christmas music in the summer. I still can't quite figure out why I do that.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-08 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
A similar change in listening habits happens to me too, but I have really bad seasonal affective disorder.

Changing the kind of music you listen to due to environment or mood can't be that weird, though.

ANON ARE YOU ME

The weather is finally warm around here, and I am definitely noticing this about myself.
