Maybe it's because that is his most possible real world look. The make-up and costumes feels comic book because he is a comic book villain. But a clean face psychopath? Maybe that hits a little too close to home in that he could happen in real life.

Can't read it, too small.

I just have to comment on your icon. I don't if you've used it much before but I'd never seen it, and it's completely amazing. <3

Thank you, it's based on art by the great Brandon Bird.

I guess it is one of my less-used icons, although I do tend to use it in both crime/mystery show discussions (not just L&O) and comics discussions.

That's because it could be the face of any random psycho on the street (minus the disfigurement).

I wholeheartedly agree, OP.

Funny, I'm the opposite. In that scene, I feel like we get a glimpse of the person he *could* have been, but chose not to be.

I felt the same. It's that impossibly evil look in his eyes and the dark circles that do it for me. He looks villainous with the clown paint but that look on an otherwise (somewhat) normal face makes him look like an absolute monster.

I find him attractive in this scene. oops.

1: I totally agree. The cartoon versions were always more silly, to me, and the comics were hit-and-miss. But this one, all-too-brief image was definitely what made me think of him as a Bad Guy.

2: I always tried to pause the movie there so I could get a better look at his "real" face. Thanks!

3: Not long after this movie came out, I saw a guy at work with a Glasgow smile. Live and in person. It wasn't as gnarly as the Joker's, but it was still kind of terrifying. You ever get that feeling where you're suddenly scared stiff and your toes might as well be nailed to the ground, for all he good they'll do you? Yea, now imagine trying to smile and interacting normally without acting awestruck. xP /end story time
