The main difference is that MSPARP has some more features--namely, the ability to filter characters (which makes things handy if you only really want to RP a certain ship, or if there's a character you want to avoid, or whatever) and choose between script/paragraph and SFW/NSFW. I'm of the opinion that it's generally a superior site for those reasons.

That said, Trollplay was there first, and people (including me sometimes) still use it. Basically, Trollplay was the original Homestuck/MSPA Omegle-style RP site; MSPARP is kind of like the new and improved version, if that makes sense.

(And for the record, OP: You won't exactly stick out if you suck. There are some really awful RPers on both Trollplay and MSPARP.)
