Tumblr-related question

(Anonymous) 2013-05-08 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a very first world problem but, well. Why not.

Does anyone know how long it takes for a hugely popular confession tumblr (alright, alright - Dear Old Love, busted) submission to get posted?

Because I submitted one two days ago and has been too anxious to check on it until now - but now it's still not there. I thought I wouldn't mind its being rejected but now I'm kinda worried about it. I mean, it's clearly not a big deal, and yet... it was so brief and sexy and I liked it so much and I've edited it like five times just to make it neat and easy for people with similar emotions to cathartically relate to (well, if it's even relatable). Venting I could do anywhere else, it's not a problem and I've gotten over the worst part anyway - but I'd really like to console fellow sufferers just like many posters there unknowingly consoled me, so failing to do so would be sad.

So did they turn it down or should I wait a little more?

depends on the tumblr but they probably have a huge backlog. do they have a faq and a rules section? check those out

Does the blog have anything on it about how long it takes? Or do the mods ever post responses to people asking about if something was rejected or if it's still in the queue?

Nah, I looked for that but found nothing. It's a little unsettling they didn't explain that stuff anywhere (nowhere in clear sight, at least). Maybe I'm not being attentive enough, though. *scratches head*

SA

Yeah, I just looked too and don't see anything like that :( I say resubmit because it won't hurt anyone if it's posted twice. They don't turn them into graphics or anything.

Shit, I'm so nervous I'm making mistakes. Not a native speaker, sorry :(

Sometimes Tumblr drops submissions and the blog owner never sees them, so it probably wouldn't hurt to resubmit, depending on how popular the blog is. If you know they get hundreds of submissions a day, then it's better to wait a while before resubmitting because it's probably just a backlog.

Thanks for advice! If it's true what you're saying, then I'll try resubmitting in a few days - but I'm going to wait for a decent while, too. Hope it works :)

Uhh, failed to log out... Heh, whatever XD

dude, two days is nothing. nothing. Some popular blogs get dozens of submissions each day. Having to go through all of those, filter out the good and bad ones, sometimes group certain types together if that is something the blog runners do... seriously, based on the huge blogs i have seen around, expecting it to be up within two days is really unrealistic.

Well, submissions don't appear in little red numbers like messages do, so it is possible that the mod hadn't seen them, or they will see them way later.

That's what my rational brain tells me. But I submited something once to a newly created comm and they NEVER posted it or told me why they didn't do it (and I submitted it two times). Yeah, I'm still kinda butthurt about that one. I miss LJ comms just for that reason, at least it's not a mistery whether something will be published or not.
