Yeah, I have to say it isn't the first time I've attached myself to a weird pairing despite not having seen/hating the series. Usually said pairing seems to feature some extreme kink of mine, so. D: And right, sometimes the fanon version just fits better, or I'm so invested in it that if I ever finally do get around to reading/watching the original, I'm just disappointed.

in the first season I watched of GoT I didn't like Theon because I didn't like any of the characters (except maybe the kids), along with not liking the overuse of shock-factor elements in like every episode.

but now that I've attached myself to theon and his porn, I like him. lol it probably helps that I'm incapable of not feeling bad for even the worst of characters during torture scenes. I also find extreme power dynamics sexy. I promise I'm a gentle person irl, haha
