I know this only barely relates to your secret, but we don't talk about 12 Angry Men enough.

12 Angry Men is a great movie. I think part of why I like it is that it relies on acting, tension, and characterization to tell the story, instead of loud explosions and 'There's red in my ledger' type of dialogue.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-10 01:00 am (UTC)(link)Really? Come on, that's like praising Casablanca by making a random dig at Captain America regarding Nazis. For one thing, it's no contest, so you look like a coward kicking someone when they're down when you have the blatantly obvious advantage. And for another, it doesn't make the movie you like look better to the people reading your comment, or convince them that the movie you dislike isn't good. It just makes you personally look silly for being so childish that you can't enjoy anything on its own merits, unless it gives you a chance to tear down something in order to feel superior to it.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-10 12:47 am (UTC)(link)12 Angry Men was about reasonable doubt and the quest for fairness in a world of human fallibility and the inability to know things for sure. Dead Zone removes the element of doubt, and is about the quest for justice when you know things that no-one else knows and struggle to prove them in time to save a life. Different struggles, different forms of courage.
Both are pretty powerful, but personally I'll give 12 Angry Men the edge for trying to find justice in a world where you don't know the truth and being wrong runs the risk of letting a genuine murderer go free. The struggle to be fair when you know you might be wrong is more powerful to me than the struggle to be fair when you know for a fact that you're right.
