Second opinion: is this good for someone who likes the HG world (couldn't read the books because I didn't like the writing; I've only see the movie)? I've been wanting to read really good HG fic that explores that universe more. I don't care about Glee.

Additionally, anyone got any HG long fic recs that kind of fit my criteria? (I don't care about spoilers or pairing at this point.)

:D Thanks.

I'd like to recommend The Long Road Home series by deathmallow. Haymitch-centric, mostly focussed on him and the other Victors - people you don't know anything about yet, so this might actually not be the best rec for you, come to think of it...

Oh, anyway, stories 2 and 4 are amazing if you're willing to look past the potential "who the hell are Johanna and Brutus?" confusion!

I've read the fic and it's all set in the Hunger Games world; I don't really remember there being anything about Glee except the characters from the show being used. I do remember that all the Glee characters die and Haymitch is the only that survives in the end. (He is only at the end though. The fic is basically the Hunger Games but instead of it being about Katniss and her romance with Peeta it's about Finn and Kurt and their brotherly relationship.)

Aw man, I can't find the link for it rn, but there was a fic about the first Quarter Quell, where the districts had to vote for their tributes? And so of course they voted for the 'expendable' people, most of whom had a disability of some sort, and there was focus on the Careers, and it was subtle and heart-wrenching and beautifully done.

Also there's a fic that fuses Avengers and Hunger Games, which is brill. Like, OFC Clint and Natasha are Careers, and OF COURSE Tony is a mad genius from Five...etc etc.

Omg, do you at least remember the title to that first fic or where it's at?? It sounds so interesting!

Hmm, the one with the Career focus is another one; one where it was all 12-year-olds that were drawn as tributes that year, from the PoV of one of the 18-y-o career volunteers. Why can't I find it, argh!

This one is good too, if a bit more simplistic in writing and theme; volunteers aren't allowed after names are drawn, so it's Prim and Peeta that go to the games.
