Incidentally that kind of changes my feelings towards the author near the end, then. When Gale ended up being responsible for Prim's death I was sort of annoyed... felt like it was a cheap trick to avoid having to write out an actual decision on Katniss's part. But now that I know the author didn't want that shit in the first place? It feels like her giant middle finger to the publishers and that's sort of awesome in a way. Hm. It was still kinda shitty but I'm way more forgiving about it now, lol

OT but I'm interested to see how they do that scene in the movie version. Plus all the other scenes in the Capitol. There's only so much shaky cam can cover up and it was pretty graphic and gruesome in the books. I don't doubt it'll be toned down, but while I read it I had wondered if the author was challenging screen adapters because it really spiked there and it's mostly vital important stuff.
