I'm bored with my fandom

I want something really shitstorm-inducing to go down and have people screaming and ranting and wanking all over the place. The lack of shit happening is making me depressed. Does anyone here have entertaining stories of current wank or recent controversial developments/events in their current fandoms?

I don't understand people like you. Why would you want that toxic shit, that drama, that wank? Especially in your own house - I mean, I get being entertained by it from a distance, but I just don't understand why you would actively want to be in the middle of it.

I'm trying not to be accusatory here or anything, because I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing and I don't see any reason to castigate anyone - I just really, really don't understand where that kind of impulse comes from. It's more just lack of understanding than anything. Why would you want things to be worse than they are?

Er, mostly because I don't take fandom drama seriously and am mainly just amused by it, even if it's in a fandom I'm in. I mean...it's just ridiculous people saying hilarious shit and taking umbrage at tiny slights and details and it's just...very amusing. I don't find it "toxic" because I don't take fandom that seriously, even in cases where I do take the canon seriously.

I guess it would be different if it was a small fandom where I couldn't migrate away from the wank into a nice sane circle if I wanted to, though.

I ship my fandom's most popular pairing and track its Tumblr tags. There's this one epically long fanfic - I want to say 50ish chapters? - about this pairing that's extremely popular... But also gets a lot of hate for being OOC and whatnot. The hate started to REALLY pile on in the pairing's tags recently, resulting in a bunch of wank between the author, the loudest naysayers and supporters of both. It even flooded my dashboard for a while, lol. It ended up with the author apologizing for some parts of this fic (which does tread on abuse) and putting trigger warnings for it and a general warning for OOCness.

It was entertaining since I couldn't sleep anyway and had a stomach ache keeping me up. :P

Some of my fandom got into a Twitter argument with Wynonna Judd recently over whether it's rude to call Mariska Hargitay by a nickname her RL friends use.
