I can get being upset about people expecting spoiler notices past a certain point, but why the heck are you so bothered by people voluntarily using them for older stuff? How does is it hurting anything?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-10 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it devalues the spoiler warning tag. It also makes people less likely to use it at all when it is so over used, just out of rebellion. Use spoiler tags appropriately and prevent this type argument.

It is one thing to put spoiler tags on the news John Harrison is Khan recruited by Section 31 in the new Star Trek movie and Kirk dies (temporarily), but quite another to put the tag on the reveal that ------ and ---- merged with ---- at the end of Star Trek The Motion Picture and that Chekov ----- his -----.

Oh no, that poor devalued spoiler tag!

(Anonymous) 2013-05-11 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
lol, my thoughts exactly

(Anonymous) 2013-05-11 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, thanks for spoiling the new Star Trek film.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-11 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, it was in the Spoiler section. Don't blame me if you ignored the tag, because it doesn't have the same weight any more.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-12 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't mind seeing a spoiler for a 1978 film. I was not expecting to see a spoiler for a brand new film.

Fuck you.

Chekov shat his pants? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

(Anonymous) 2013-05-11 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He probably did that too. Just for fun though.
