I usually cut them up with scissors, but I'm afraid of a stray shard jumping and cutting my face. Any better ideas?

Maybe you could put your hands inside of a plastic bag or something before cutting, that way there's no way a shard is gonna hit your face (I think it probably won't anyway, but that way you're super-safe).

Put the disc in an envelope, then put that envelope in a box, put that box inside of another box, then mail that box to yourself, and when it arrives, smash it with a hammer!

...Or, to save on postage, do whichever one of these options you're most comfortable with.
