Yes, the audience is English-speaking, but not necessarily monolingual. A lot of people reading those fics actually speak those other languages, you know? The author might be writing for them as well. When it's well done, it's quite nice, actually.

If you don't speak the foreign languages used, you can't see any mistakes and the author translates it for you, so I don't get the complaints.
