Can someone explain to me the recent Moffat hate ?

Due to IRL stuff, I haven't been able to catch up with series 7 at all (probably will have to wait for the DVDs to come out to watch it). I barely keep up with the fandom. But then suddenly there was Moffat hate all over my dashboard. Can someone explain to me this phenomenon ? (but please don't be too spoler-y, some spoilers is ok though)

Well there is more to it than just the new casting news. I have seen the hate before this.

How recent are you talking about? There has been Moffat hate pretty much since he took over. It's gotten worse as the second half of series 7 aired because it's been a massive disappointment to many fans, to the point that ratings have dropped by 25% from the half-series premiere. Ratings are down almost 50% from the series premiere in October and down more than 100% from The End of Time Parts 1 & 2 despite almost climbing back up to those levels during series 6.

And the hate has been reaching new heights with every piece of confirmed news about the 50th Anniversary Special, which Moffat says isn't about the fans and shouldn't be a celebration of the show.

okay, i don't watch dw so this is just what i've learned from fs, but apparently it has to do with his writing trying to be super dramatic and epic and kind of falling flat, plus his treatment of female characters (an actual fan of dw will have to explain this one)

Moffat's misogyny and treatment of female characters seems to be mostly a F!S thing. I've never seen anyone complain about it anywhere else and every example I've seen given about it here on F!S is stuff you have to squint your eyes really hard and stretch your imagination to see.

Untrue. Moffat's misogyny gets complaints everywhere. FS is actually fairly mellow compared with a lot of fandom.

There are also helpful lists of all the horrible sexist shit he's pulled, if you have the desire to go find it. A few of the complaints are laughable, but most of them are quite valid.
