elaminator: (Star Trek: TOS - Kirk/Spock)

Well now I can't help but imagine the Enterprise playing Rolling in the Deep as it falls.

Ahahaha. That reminds me of Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy when the whale falls to earth and has its inner monologue.
elaminator: (Star Trek XI: Spock)

Ooh, maybe that's where OP got the idea from? /no idea

(Anonymous) 2013-05-11 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
but what about the petunias
sootyowl: (Default)

[personal profile] sootyowl 2013-05-11 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Curiously enough, the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias as it fell was Oh no, not again. Many people have speculated that if we knew exactly why the bowl of petunias had thought that we would know a lot more about the nature of the Universe than we do now.

Great. Now I'm doing that too. But with the Overtones' version of the song.
elaminator: (Star Trek: Into Darkness - Kirk)

[personal profile] elaminator 2013-05-11 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
IDK what that version is but I'm gonna youtube it now.

Nuh, it's totally

I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the flames
Where I felt somethin' die '
Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time, oh

;)

I was like "awww, that's sad" and then the Adele part made me spit MnMs on my keyboard, not even joking :D

But oh, the way Kirk talked up such a storm in the series about how the Enterprise is the only lady for him is kind of a funny aneurysm moment now...

That was a sad moment when the Enterprise was no more :(

ROLLING IN THE DEEP (SPACE)

(Anonymous) 2013-05-11 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, considering how complex the Enterprise D's computer and holodeck are, and how clueless the TNG crew seems to be about the extent of its capabilities, I wonder if it's that big a stretch to consider that the ship might have gained legit sentience.

The original Enterprise and the Enterprise A however...I don't think so. But that just makes it more fun to talk about. It's more magical that way.

Funnily enough, I once stumbled across a TOS novel where the Enterprise's computer temporarily gains sentience, sort of, by interfacing with/talking to a supercomputer that's running an entire planet. It was pretty cool.

You don't mean The Joy Machine, do you? It's been a while since I read it, but I don't think there was any sentient-Enterprise element. Definitely not Mudd In Your Eye...okay, I guess 'supercomputer running an entire planet' is a common theme in TOS novels ;). (Still curious as to which one you mean.) Or, wait, Spock's World? No, that was just Moira that was sentient...oh, I give up.

Ah! The Joy Machine, that's the one! I haven't read it in a while either, but I'm pretty sure the Enterprise was talking to the system that was running everything, and asking it questions and debating with it and stuff. I think there was even a bit at the end where the Enterprise talks, but I have a huge weakness for sentient modes of transport so that might be wishful thinking. XD I do remember it being a really good book though, gotta dig it out and read it again sometime!

Thanks for the spoiler, cunt.

I hope your first child is stillborn
quantumreality: (Default)

[personal profile] quantumreality 2013-05-11 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, seriously? Come the fuck on. The movie's like 25 years old.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-11 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I thought this was from the new one. Never saw the old films, and I havn't seen the new one yet.

I apologize, OP, My bad.
intrigueing: (Default)

[personal profile] intrigueing 2013-05-11 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Implying that it would have been an okay thing for you to say if this was a spoiler for the new movie? How about no.

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-05-11 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see. So, if it had been a secret for new movie, it would have been perfectly acceptable to hope that my first child was stillborn as punishment for spoiling you.

Yeah, I'm afraid I don't accept your apologies for that.

That is not an OK thing to say no matter what. Wtf is wrong with you?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-11 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
... That was one of the more rapid about-faces I've seen in a while. Hatred to conciliation in two comments flat.

At least your spoiler policy appears to be consistent. Shockingly vehement, but at least consistent.
