If everyone didn't do kudos until stories were completed the stories could never get finished though. :p

Not everyone wants to take back their kudos at the end of a story either. But for someone who has that problem a lot, waiting is the best option.

I know, I was just joking because some people need validation in the form of kudos/comments in order to continue writing.

maybe they need to find another hobby if they need constant validation to do anything

(Anonymous) 2013-05-12 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
okay

If you can't finish a story that you yourself made up without someone else validating it as you go, I seriously question your own interest in that story.

I never post incomplete fics.

And I love you for it. WiPs are my enemy.

That's nice. Feedback is still a huge part of the process for a lot of writers. It's one of the (many) reasons things like writers' groups are so useful. If it's just you, it can be hard to motivate yourself to get past the mid-story slump, or actually do that third round of revisions, because creative fatigue is a bitch. Someone else's expectations can really help with motivation to get through a sloggy portion of a story.

I'm a fucking reader, I'm not some fucking critique/beta machine.

Leave the 'writers' groups' argument out of it.

I sure hope those writers don't try to do any professional writing for publication. They will pretty much be writing in a vacuum and all they can hope for are people who can cheerlead on the side but sure as fuck don't expect to them to read every chapter and give asspats.

Christ on a cracker, fanfic writers can be one fucking whiny lot of blubbering, spineless, weakbellied babies.
