DA. But stores aren't required to accept returns if there's nothing wrong with the item? At least here they aren't.

Where I live I've never had trouble returning something if I have the receipt. I never knew you had to have a reason...

I don't think any of the big chain stores do that, because they all want to provide the best service possible and make things easy so that people keep coming back.

Most make exceptions for things like DVDs, where there has to be a problem with it and you can only exchange it for the exact same thing.

Really depends on where you are and what store you're shopping at. The smaller the store, the bigger chance there's gonna be a more restrictive return policy, but big chain stores generally try to do everything they can to please customers, which includes taking back as many returns as they see worth keeping customers. Hell, I work at a big box store that takes almost everything back, regardless of whether there's still a box or a receipt or whatever. And if his whole plan was "buy everything that looks good and return whatever doesn't work out," he'd make sure he could return it. He's distracted and somewhat misguided, not stupid.

Isn't it fun? I work in apparel in a big box store and we've had the service desk people accept for return items that have been worn and washed - you can smell the fabric softener - or worse, things that have been worn and not washed (that shirt smelled and looked like it had been sweated in for three days.) Not to mention the swim suits reeking of suntan oil.

Also, they accepted the return of a pair of jeans I'm positive did not come from our chain, with no receipt and no price tag, just because the woman wouldn't stop saying, "But my sister said she bought them here."

Aaaaand this is why you wash things before wearing them.
