21. Sheik is female though. She's Zelda in disguised. You can't really compare her to Peter Pan since one is a male character and one is a female pretending to be male to protect herself. A better comparison for Sheik would be Samus from the Metroid series since that's another case where the character was thought to be male at first but turned out to be female. Or do you also get your panties in a wad when people call Samus a girl?

(Anonymous) 2007-09-19 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)Samus is a chick playing a chick in a suit that makes her sex/gender easily confused. But as far as my knowledge of the series goes (extremely limited), she doesn't go out of her way to assume the personality of a male.
Re: 21
As for Samus, yes like with Sheik, the series went out of it's way to make the player think that Samus was male. It was a big surprise at the end of the first game when it's revealed that Samus is a girl.
Re: 21
(Anonymous) 2007-09-19 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)I'm not saying Zelda and Sheik are seperate people, because they're not. I'm not that kind of fangirl. I'm just saying when she puts on the Sheik suit, she wants to be treated as a boy, because it makes the disguise that much more convincing. If she wanted to be treated as a particularly kick-ass girl, she would disguise herself as a particularly kick-ass girl. See: WindWaker (only not really because Tetra didn't know, but I hope my point is made.)
Maybe that makes me a nerd to think of things from Zelda's point of view, but if she wanted people to think she was a guy, I'm going to call Sheik a guy, even if I know it's Zelda inside.
Re: 21
HOWEVER, I now get what you're saying about that Zelda herself wants to be viewed as a man when she's dressed as Sheik.
And I'm sorry because I did think you were one of those fans who think that Zelda and Sheik are two different people and I overreacted.
