5 - Hey, to each their own. Some ship twincest, some ship vanilla het, and some ship loving tentacle-sex genderswitching foursomes. Don't like it, don't read it. Drop the people who blab incessantly about it from your friendslist. Is it THAT hard?

6 - This secret makes me so incredibly happy. ♥

12 - Even if you never finish the game, at least you're making the effort, which is more than can be said for a lot of our fellow Compilation newbies. It's the people who are only in it for the pretty who make the rest of us look bad.
Also gonna second another commenter's point -- if you're having trouble getting through the game, sitting down with someone else to play it together makes it flow so much more easily. I mean, I know for sure that's the only way I'm ever gonna get through FFVIII.

21 - The adopted persona is male, so one would assume using a male pronoun to be more appropriate, but... Ohh, genderfuck, how I love you some days.
...I'm not sure if that was supposed to be sarcastic or not.

25 - OMG DRAGONLANCE ILU. :D I read those books over and over when I was growing up.

31 - Word.

I actually experienced something similar when I was amongst the giant wave of noobs coming into the Tolkien fandom when the movies came out (but in that case it was a lot easier for me to sit down and read the books). You're always going to get noobs good and bad in any fandom.

I've lost my fandom buddy that I had been playing with (due to college ending), but I bought myself the strategy guide, so hopefully that'll help me out a bit.

I've actually read some of your fic -- it's nice to know that some of the good fic authors I've read are relatively new themselves. :)

Ah, you've read my fic? Thank you so much! :D

As far as strategies for the game go, I recommend two enemy skills above all others -- White Wind (heals party by caster's current HP and removes status ailments) and Big Guard (Barrier/MBarrier/Haste on party). You need a Manipulate materia to get each of them (from the Zemzelets by Junon and the Beach Plugs on the shores of Costa del Sol, respectively), but they're well worth it. Big Guard's great for boss fights, and with White Wind you'll never need a Restore=All Heal=All combination again (well, maybe not; Restore=All can be useful for Regen at least, and the MP cost for White Wind can be pretty steep at low levels). As far as the rest of it goes, Elemental materia combinations on armour can be a lifesaver (especially if you get the Elementals up to a high enough level where they block the damage completely or turn it into healing), but really, I rarely found myself casting magic. You can pretty much hack 'n' slash your way through most of the game.

The part where it really gets difficult is the final dungeon, but even the bosses at the end of it are a cakewalk if you play it right. Just don't summon Knights of the Round (if you have it) against the first one and avoid having anyone (whether they're in your main party or not) at level 99, and it's almost disappointingly easy -- I didn't even get to see the famously drawn-out Supernova sequence when fighting the final boss.

...um. Sorry to ramble. ^^;;

Wow, no, don't be sorry at all, you -- and a lot of other people -- have been really helpful. I've been saving everyone's tips and advice to a notepad file. Thanks very much!
