I enjoy the plot very much, but not the gameplay so much... at least of what I've seen so far. Like I said, I'm not so much into video games -- if it had been a book I'd have read it and reread it several times through already. That whole science-gone-wrong thing is right up my alley, and that was what attracted me to it in the first place. I don't really think it's the best thing since sliced bread, no, but people are just so damned attached to it and territorial about it...

It's just kind of buggy when I say "I like this FFVII thing, I'd like to play it" and half my friends say "LAME, FFVII is LAME and you're stupid for being interested in it" and the other half say "OMG I can't believe you like my sacred FFVII. I played it when it first came out." I'm just tired of feeling like I can't enjoy something for the sake of enjoying it because no matter what I do, I always feel like I'm stepping on someone's toes. Sort of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. If your friends really treat you like that, over a stupid video game, can you really call them your friends? o___O 'Cause if I had a friend was interested in playing a game I love, I'd be so happy. XD I'd do everything in my power to help them get into the game.

Although, to be honest with you, I don't understand what you find difficult about the gameplay. Turn based battle systems are pretty simple. I can understand getting confused about the materia system though. :) It seems complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze.

Then again, I've been playing video games since... forever. X_x Since way way back when the only systems were the original Nintendo and the Sega Master System. LOL

Yeah, they're not really close friends of mine, obviously, but they were the people I knew had played the game and so the people I turned to when I wanted to ask questions about it. I always hate to say things like "it's a boy thing," but it really seemed like it, since they were all guy friends. I was either getting the "FF6 is better" lecture or they were pissed about the icky girl fan being interested in their very manly video game. XD

Heh, it's actually the turn-based gaming that trips me up, since I've never played a game using it before. I play a lot of Guild Wars, which lets you run up to stuff and just fight away, and going from that to the turn-based system is a bit of a mind whammy. Then I get frustrated with myself since I'm having problems with it. I was actually doing okay in the beginning when the battles were slower and I had a lot of time to make a choice, but later on when things really sped up I really started sucking at it. ^^ The materia system I was okay with, although I know I didn't grasp its full potential.
