I don't get how people would get racism out of hating her. Unlike, yanno, you'd be calling her slurs that target Asian people only (like "chink").

lmao I love that you felt you had to give us an axample of what kind of slur you meant.

Believe it or not, but many people think "chink" isn't a slur. At least where I come from (I'm not from the US).

Holy crap. D: I didn't realize.

da

This anon had no idea! But then I grew up with the word to mean a sound, generally associated with money (like going vroom) and only found out later online that it's also a slur. I'm still fine using it in my home country since I don't think it is a slur here (except maybe visitors could use it I guess? idk we have a large asian population and it's not one of the slurs I ever heard), but I'd be careful if I visited another country.

Not that I really use it anymore anyway. Was more like teen slang hah

"Chink" is only a slur when it's used in reference to Asian people. It actually does have a different meanings that were in use for hundreds of years before it was used pejoratively - one of them being the sound of coins used as far back as the 1580s. The well known saying "a chink in the armour" has nothing to do with being a slur, has been in use since the 1400s and I have no issue using it today.

Unless you're using it to describe one of the many Chinese historical/fantasy movies. Lots of chinks in armour there.

That's not what the phrase means, so no, I wouldn't use it in that case.

GOD yes - I was on a pinup website (it makes sense in context), was checking out "How To Do Your Makeup Like A Pinup Model", and it said "Be sure to do this one step if you have chinky eyes!" My face: o.O

Sad thing is, it's not the first time I've seen "chinky eyes" used.

Some people are ESL, so they're not familiar with lingo and slurs, you know.
