But then I grew up with the word to mean a sound, generally associated with money (like going vroom) and only found out later online that it's also a slur. I'm still fine using it in my home country since I don't think it is a slur here (except maybe visitors could use it I guess? idk we have a large asian population and it's not one of the slurs I ever heard), but I'd be careful if I visited another country.
Not that I really use it anymore anyway. Was more like teen slang hah
