Maybe it was thew writers intention to redeem her all along but it seems like it would have been a lot more accepted if they had started in Season one instead of making us hate her for a whole season and still show her being awful for the second. Oh but boohoo her mom is mean. Her dad wasn't. Then she killed him for her own gain.
I would have spent more time showing that she was a good mother to Henry by showing their life well before he ran away a bit more. Somehow perhaps imply that she subconsciously wanted him to figure it out to relieve her guilt instead of actively fighting him.
