This. Thank you! Canon!Holmes might not be as bad as BBC!Sherlock, but he is a far cry from being a likable character. Interesting and intriguing, yes, likable? Rarely.
Canon!Holmes rarely showed any empathy either (apart from a very, very few exceptions). Does anyone remember how often canon!Holmes sends people home, despite the very real, life threatening danger they were in, because he still needed time to think/invest? Because that's Holmes for you. He could be charming if he felt like it, but he certainly was never likable or even really nice. And don't get me started on the vulnerability!
So no, Elementary has not the perfect Holmes, just as BBC!Sherlock or really most adaptations haven't. There are a few adaptations getting close to it, most notably Granada/Brett, but Elementary certainly isn't one of them.
