You have been assimilated.

Yes I know it is a different fandom..

Eh, some people reckon the Borg were nicked from the Cybermen. Also, there's an official comic from last year with a Borg/Cybermen crossover.

It's interesting you should say that - just read a pretty good thing recently arguing that the thing you're describing is pretty much the central theme of the entirety of Doctor Who, so it makes sense.

(its here for reference: http://mightygodking.com/2013/05/03/what-is-doctor-who-all-about/ )

That doesn't sound silly, that's the magic of Doctor Who. :-D And if you start being freaked out by everyday objects? Don't worry, that's normal too.

No worries OP, it happens a lot! See for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24UZeKLHwgA

Rock on, OP.

This is a fabulous secret! Congratulations, OP. The source of your new understanding doesn't matter, really. You're looking at the world with new eyes and that is always awesomely awesome.

Keep rocking in your new discoveries.

Yay :) Good to hear you've been appreciating different things; that's always good, I think.

Actually, I think something like that happened when I started watching DW.

This is actually a really cool secret. Go you!

OMG, this.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-16 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
THIS. I don't even know with this show. I started watching it on caprice (as sci-fi isn't generally my thing), and got hooked. That's pretty typical for me, but the way the show freakin' warped my world view? I can't say any show has ever done that before. Suddenly I'm questioning everything and thinking about all this philosophical/existential/metaphysical/etc stuff that I normal wouldn't be and considering so many ideas that I never would have before.

It also sparked a huge interest in certain sciences like evolution, biology, physics, astronomy, and sociology. I've always been pretty disinterested in this stuff, but all of a sudden my interest got piqued and suddenly I'm paying major attention in my classes and taking a real interest in what I'm learning.

And gosh, the urge to KNOW everything. Know how things work, why they work, how certain things are created, how they evolve, how certain things react to other things, etc... I'm so curious about everything now, and I honestly never have been the kind of person who yearned to get to the bottom of things and take things apart just to see how they tick.

This show, man.

Did I not reply to this secret yet? My bad! This is totally wonderful OP :) You never know what might spark something in you that was always there but dormant. The great thing about Doctor Who is that it contains such an ambitious trove of ideas and topics to touch on that it's almost guaranteed for at least something in it to resonate with almost everyone who watches it.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-16 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Great! That's also on of the reason the doctor needs companions, without them he can't see it.
