I'm sorry I can't find the original post but it's a gif of a crying girl and the main characters of popular fandoms cheering her up by hugging/kissing her and the message is that fandoms help people cope with the problems they face irl.

That actually sounds like a good idea, in outline. It's just ... Sherlock may not have been the best choice of character? I mean, even John is more likely. Sherlock doesn't really deal with that sort of thing.

True, but like I said above, could be just a metaphor for the fandom itself.

Yeah, I get that. Maybe it works better in context. It's just that presented with a flat image of Sherlock comforting someone, it breaks the suspension of disbelief a little.
