I'm not trying to rail against SJ as a whole.

In fact I'm hoping that calling attention to this by getting people to recognize that the bullying and bad behavior is bad and discouraging people from giving people like Riley what they want-asspats and positive attention, Social Justice can actually be taken seriously by more people.

I'm hoping that maybe if people approached those who said wrong things in ignorance with rationality-and thus we could actually reach MORE people. (My opinion if someone says something in ignorance and then continues to be rude when corrected than being blunt and calling them a bigot would be acceptable. Not "could you explain exactly what privilege means so I can properly understa-" "OH SHUT UP YOU RACIST/SEXIST/HOMOPHOBE. IF YOU HAVE TO ASK YOU ARE PRIVILEGED . JUST DIE PAINFULLY"

or

"Hey, I'm curious about you cause, could you explain *term*?" "Oh my God just google it, it' not my job to educate you, you lazy piece of shit" )

(protip: when people politely ask for clarification, it tends to mean (if they're sincere and interested) that are interested in hearing YOU explain so they can get YOUR perspective. Telling them to go Google it or look it up on Wikipedia robs you of the chance to maybe convince someone to see your perspective")

I have a group of friends who take the more logical and calm approach and as a result I've come to understand a lot about social issues and thus support them. because yes I know i'm privileged and was very sheltered/naive.

All I learned from the people who yell and call names at anyone who questions them is to feel to defensive because they made me feel shitty about myself.
