Do not use the word justify. People shouldn't have to justify why they like someone. Not to mention it is a word used for too often by people to tear other people's ships down.

If you wanted to hear about what ships people like and why, it would've been far better to use something like 'tell me the best thing about your OTPs' or 'why do you OTPs work for you?'.

Except, Justify is a perfectly applicable word for the sort of converstaion OP was apparently hoping to create.

Yep, going by dictionary definition it can be perfectly suitable word to use. (Though personally not my fav, cause I don't see why I should have to justify any of the things I do in fandom.)

But words also get stuck with... context baggage shall we say? When a word very often gets used by certain groups to try and ruin other people's fun (omg how can you justify this slash/het/femslash/whatever pairing, these characters are not gay/straight/together in canon/whatever whatever) people are automatically going to have a reaction to that word, even when used in innocent context. That is how language works.

The OP just wanted to have a fun discussion on what works and doesn't work for people from the looks of it. I gave them a suggestion for a word that has a bit of baggage in fandom discussions. OP is cool with it, I'm cool with it, only you seem to have a problem here.
