I'm still registered as a Republican but honestly both parties scare the hell out of me. I'd change to Independent but I'm not willing to give up my right to vote in primaries. I'd rather cling desperately to the hope that a decent Republican candidate will come along than vote Democrat. I'm a social liberal but moderately conservative otherwise.

We almost had a decent Republican candidate here in VA. Bill Bolling. But good ol' Cuccinelli (sp?) went and kicked him out of the primaries so BB dropped out. Now he's hell-bent on trolling both parties out of bitterness and resentment. It's great!

On a national level, I rather liked Jon Huntsman. He actually believes in science! And he speaks Chinese! And he's not a jerk!

Yes, I honestly think if Huntsman had won the Republican primary I would have to have done a lot of soul-searching in the presidential election, and very well may have ended up voting for him instead of Obama. But, that ended up being a non-issue as the Republican party decided it would rather continue eating itself.
