- Sorry for the late, people!
- Also... guys. Make the secrets sound like something you'd be secretive about? Just bashing things isn't a secret, it's wank. D: Thanks!

I don't think it IS getting off-tangent. The 11 OP wasn't saying that all main guy+main girl pairings are like that, s/he was saying that Phoenix and Maya were like that, which does directly come down to the validity of the pairing itself. Since the third game establishes them firmly as two people who love each other to death--in virtually completely platonic bonds--while going out of its way to deny them as a romantic couple... 11 is saying that it's hard for him/her to see anybody shipping the two of them together as doing it out of anything but the aforementioned heteronormative main guy/main girl OTP. Since the game really does affirm there's NOTHING there.

Whereas the game doesn't make that same effort to go out of its way and deny anything between Phoenix and Edgeworth (see: the "secret" when you fail to break the last part of Iris' first Psyche-Lock, also Edgeworth's reaction to presenting Iris' Hood).

So no, it really ISN'T hypocritical at all.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree here, because I believe relationships aren't set in stone; in fact, their strong friendship is a good foundation for something more. All I'm really saying is that fans that do like the pairing doesn't just fall in the "heteronormative mainguy/maingirl OTP", but more so for the pairing's amusing and endearing dynamics, at least for the fans I have come across with. Overgeneralizing isn't the way to go about it, thankyouverymuch.
