My sympathies. All my football-loving friends pretty much fall into these two categories - they all hate C. Ronaldo, though for different reasons.

I think he's talented but not my favorite.

Ugh. Isn't it the worst how people assume any feminine interest in sports must derive from hot male bodies? Fortunately, I watch hockey and due to their uniforms, this is less of a big deal, but I still hear it on occasion.

I think the problem is, despite how good a player he is, he's also a bit of a cock, both on and off the pitch, which people can't help associating with his playing. Like Suarez - off the pitch, seems like quite a nice bloke. On the pitch, plays amazingly, but is also an absolute bastard. So people hate him.
