Earlier this season I would have agreed with you, but man Regina's done too much awful shit. The only way I can see her being redeemed is some HUGE act of selflessness. I mean, I wanted Regina to be redeemable because I thought it would be interesting (and I ship Regina/Emma) but man I can't see it happening.

Well, I can think of a couple times where she's done something selfless. She's then backslid. I think the idea is that magic is addictive. I don't think they are doing enough to sell that to make it quite believable, but I think that's what they are trying to convey.

For sure; I just think the amount of times she's backslid is a bit much.

If they portrayed the idea of magic as addictive, and really sold that, that might be a really interesting angle for season 3, actually. I know it's been hard for magic users to give it up, but if they played up how hard it is that might be interesting.

I've thought a few times that that might be coming as well, primarily because they've shown both Regina and Rumplestiltskin to be so interested in Emma's reactions to having magic.
