I thought they cut the alcoholic bit because he was a total wreck after the Avengers. Like, he avoided sleeping and if he drank, it'd be easier for him to fall asleep.

This is what I was thinking, too. It's clear Tony's drinking in the film. He's got a glass of wine even when he's working on his own. He pulls a SECOND bottle out just before Pepper gets home. FROM THE WALL FULL OF WINE.

He's got a glass of something at the bar. Don't tell me that's just water. Even if it is, it's probably just because he didn't have time to get distracted with it when he had information to grab.

He's drinking when he's with Rhodey too, I think.

Alcohol just wasn't the plot of this movie, but if you say Tony gave up alcohol in the film, I have to wonder which movie you were watching.

If there was anything I didn't like about the film, it was that he somehow was magically able to get his chest fixed. But whatever, at least he still acted like Tony Stark.

I'm pretty sure, given the voiceover, that they meant to imply that he'd injected himself with the fixed copy of Extremis to give him a healing factor that'd let him recover from the surgery. Which, considering it let people walk away from near ground zero of an explosion and other shit like that, would make sense.

It would've helped if they'd been explicit about it, though.

Huh... I hadn't realized that. Well, even if it's just a theory, I can live with that as a reason. Because I was having a hard time reconciling why it would have suddenly been possible otherwise. Thanks!

How Tony got his heart fixed: Apparently the extra scenes in the Chinese edition included a plotline about the renowned heart doctor (that you meet for five seconds at the beginning of the movie) coming out of retirement to help Tony, because Iron Man saved his home this one time.

...yeah, it was a really stupid ending.
