I saw on another site that someone described her as the otherside of Disney princesses. That she is what happens if you are a Disney princess and your prince doesn't come, your talking animal sidekick gets eaten by a bear, and that your fairy godmother is a fairly mad imp. She's a tragic figure that was exactly the same as Snow and Emma when she was a kid, but she didn't get the breaks of benevolent figures watching over her and guiding her life positively. Regina is tragic rather than evil. I'd like to see her acknowledge the harm she has caused and sincerely try to make amends where she can and live better where she can't. That would be better than redemption, it would be rehabilitation. And everyone deserves a chance at that.
