Yeah, I think in the grand scheme of fandom, the Trek fans have probably done far more interesting stuff than Bronies have, so to someone like deLancie, nothing would surprise/scandalize him anymore. Besides, after hearing about the Unicon disaster earlier this year, deLancie got my respect for the way he helped out the people who were left holding the burning bag, when he and his agent could have simply taken what money was there and ran.

"but I learned to deal with it over time and honestly even the stuff I see modern fandoms get up to is almost always just rehashes of I saw at conventions 20 years ago. Trust me, those crazy people were around before the internet came into being, the internet just gave them a soapbox and a spotlight to use."

Ah'yup. It's all "the more things change, the more they stay the same". Besides, I'm pretty sure there was some just as awful goings on in the Star Trek fandom back in its heyday... but its only documentation is second-hand recounts/word of mouth.
