Now I'm just thinking of that story about someone's grandmother falling and getting hurt at some function hand RDJ jumping in to help her, not even caring about getting blood all over. Like, his first thought just, "Hey, someone's hurt--I'd better help."

Which sounds obvious, but really isn't.

I think OP confuses him with his "Iron Man" promotional persona. Like how people think Misha Collins is a peppy, crazy person.

yeah I think so too. He plays with press when he promotes iron man movies and his press conferences were pretty amazing.

Faking douchiness doesn't exclude a person from responsibility for their douchiness. It's better than being an asshole on purpose with the intent to harm, but it's still not good.
