So I really enjoy sorting random crap--not just characters--into the Hogwarts houses. For instance, sorting the seasons:

Gryffindor - Summer
Slytherin - Winter
Ravenclaw - Autumn
Hufflepuff - Spring

Or like, what kind of music do you associate with the houses? What kind of drinks? etc. Anyone got any good ones?

Ice Cream Flavors:

Gryffindor: Neopolitan, maybe. I actually don't know. Maybe cookie dough?
Slytherin: Chocolate (Indulgent)
Ravenclaw: Something coffee flavored (Exclusionary)
Hufflepuff: Vanilla (Mass appeal, comforting)

I see Gryffindor as chocolate, and Slytherin as something minty. I love Ravenclaw as coffee flavoured.

Ooo, Slytherin as mint is a great ideal! And I guess yeah, Gryffindor as chocolate makes sense. Traditional values, a crowd pleaser. Champion of ice creams, lol.

Hmm... for some reason I see Hufflepuff as Butter Pecan. IDEK.

Why on Earth would Hufflepuff not be vanilla.

I've sorted the universities of Florida into the Hogwarts houses.

FSU is Gryffindor (colors = Red/Gold) and they've sort of got that older, illustrious sheen.
UF is Ravenclaw (colors = Blue&Orange/Bronze)) since they're better known for being a smart, competitive school.
UCF is Hufflepuff (colors = Gold/Yellow&Black) since they're the largest school with slightly lower admission requirements (they take the lot) and they're not really known for much yet.
And either Miami or USF is Slythern, but they both ruin it because they're colors are Green&Orange/Gold respectively and they're evil for ruining the pattern.

Classical elements:

Gryffindor: Fire
Ravenclaw: Air
Hufflepuff: Earth
Slytherin: Water

Elements:
Gryffindor: Fire
Slytherin: Water
Ravenclaw: Air
Hufflepuff: Earth

Ha, I've always wondered if this occurred to anyone else, and it looks like it has!

What's amusing, though, is that your lists are identical.

Makes you wonder if the four elements analogy was intended (from now on I'm going to head-canonishly assume it was).

I remember Rowling saying in an interview that it was. And those were indeed her categorisations.

And it works with the common rooms, too; Ravenclaw's in a tall tower, Hufflepuff is in the ground and has a view of the gardens, and Slytherin is under the lake. I guess you can't really have a common room on fire tho.

Slytherin - fancy classical music
Gryffindor - punk/rock
Ravenclaw - new age/relaxation-type music (to read more easily!)
Hufflpeuff - black metal \m/ inside their common room, catchy pop if other houses are around

Mercury - Gryffindor
Venus - Ravenclaw
Earth - Slytherin
Mars - Gryffindor
Jupiter - Hufflepuff
Saturn - Slytherin
Uranus - Hufflepuff
Neptune - Slytherin
Pluto (IT'S STILL A PLANET GODDAMNIT) - Ravenclaw

I've also sorted some of the moons!

Earth's moon - Hufflepuff
Io - Gryffindor
Europa - Ravenclaw
Ganymede - Slytherin
Phobos & Deimos - Slytherin
Rhea - Hufflepuff

...I meant to type Gryffindor for Saturn, but I guess I could see Saturn as a Slytherin too? IDK, sorry about the typo.

On Saturn: I don't know how one determines a celestial body's characterization but the deity would totally fit in. But then again, a lot of pagan gods would.

Almost all Greek gods could go into Slytherin, maybe half could manage Gryffindor, a handful might work out in Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff? Hestia.

I wish I could read this comment without equating everything to Sailor Moon.

I agree with everything except:

Saturn = Ravenclaw (though I can see Gryffindor in the anime; just not manga)
Uranus = Slytherin

Also, I'm not sure what you mean for Venus since you listed her twice, but I'd call her Slytherin.
