considering watching this show--do you have to watch the seasons in order? or can I pick a random one to start with? also what's everyone's favourite season? thanks!

Season 1 and 2, 3 et 4, 5 and 6 and season 7 are divided in 4 generations. You can start either with season 1 or season 5, since none of the characters of season 1 are involved in season 5.
I have a very soft spot for season 1.

I'd recommend starting with season one because pretty much each season has some references to past generations, but if you don't mind missing out on that sort of thing, you can start with one (beginning of gen one), three (beginning of gen two), or five (beginning of gen three) without any problems. Season two is my favorite.

Gen 1 and Gen 2 are linked! Gen 3 stands on its own.

All the seasons have good stuff on it and endearing characters. I'd say Gen 3 is the weakest, but still very good. Gen 2 had great characters (I loved myself some canon lesbians), but some weak chapters. And I have the softest spot for Gen 1, it's fabulous.

I'd reccomend it watching it in order :3b

I personally think Skins is super overrated, but 1 and 2 are worth a watch. I just feel like the show had a lot of potential, especially with a lot of great actors in the first two series, but it wasted a lot of its potential. Just my opinion though.
