When he was first cast, I pretty much felt the same way. My impression of him was not positive. But then he was excellent in the movie, and I learned more about him, and my opinion of him is now quite high. I think it's cool that he stays in character for public appearances related to the film, I think it's awesome that he stood up for his coworkers, and I'm impressed with some of the more personal stories I've heard about him. Sure, he's made some mistakes in his past, but who hasn't, and I certainly don't expect perfection from an actor.
