Why is this a secret?

A lot of people do this. We have entire freaking communities and websites devoted to exactly this.

That said, I'll second many others in saying that often times it's not the producers of a show or movie who are stalling - in fact, these guys are usually pushing to move their show or movie to as many places as fast as possible. It's just that every country has their own laws concerning these things, and every company has its own policies. These things get very complicated, very fast.

I imagine its a secret because op doesn't want the crazy morals anon knifing them in an alley for viewing something not available to them
