Why do you assume that ScarJo + any amount more muscle = definition? She worked out a lot for these films, but she's obviously an endomorph on whom muscle probably wouldn't be readily apparent -- especially in a black catsuit -- without doing some unhealthy things to herself.

We've already discussed how the way a person's body shows muscle doesn't indicate how strong they are, anyway.

Okay, sure, but you seriously don't see a double standard at play here? People are actually getting up in arms at OP for implying that maybe for once it would be nice to have a female asskicker who has a body type with visible muscles to some degree. It's pretty much always the soft, waify version, and it's not like Black Widow is the least logical character to slap some definition on. Especially with the freedom of the MCU as a complete AU.

But no, it's totally unacceptable to say that, apparently. Unless it were Carol Danvers or She-Hulk. Then it's okay, because the point of those characters has more to do with muscles, and that's the only time you're allowed to care, I guess.

Hell, going by the reasoning in some of the threads here, it would be ridiculous for Bruce Wayne to work out because it might blow his cover as Batman.

I think everyone would be fine if OP said it would be nice. I think the problem is that OP said - or at least people read them as saying - that ScarJo isn't good enough and that soft and waify is unacceptable. And there's, I think, a pretty sensible reason for not wanting to say that - because then you run into the same trap of saying that someone has to be a certain way to be strong and that their body type has to be this and that's the only way of kicking ass. It's a pretty reasonable position to take, I think, because it would be nice to have more female asskickers with muscles but that doesn't mean that characters who don't have visible muscles can't kick ass.

In conclusion, everyone should go watch Haywire, because it's a great movie and Gina Carano kicks ass and has muscles.

I don't think she looks "waify" in that picture. If they had her wrap her legs around a dude and crush him with her thighs like a snake, I could dig it.
