Re: *looks down at own arm muscles* Uh-oh
Though honestly, this could be said for a lot of my friends. In my main social group, about half of us work out. But most people can't tell because most of the half that works out are women, and we look the same as the ones that don't work out, so it's hard to tell from the outside looking in that anyone other than the few athletic guys have muscle (and, often, a lot of it!).
Re: *looks down at own arm muscles* Uh-oh
That's 100% body fat content, of course. Muscles only start to stand out when that gets pretty low. Hence why the World's Strongest Man competitors look nothing like bodybuilders or even athletes - they don't bother to cut, because cutting does nothing for your strength. It's all aesthetics. And they don't bother with cardio like the athletes either, because they don't need it.
On the flipside, you'd know the second you so much as glanced at me that I work out, because I have very low body fat. When I'm not strong I look like a rack of bones. When I am, every muscle I build stands out, my veins pop, etc. Of course... many of these female characters are definitely portrayed as having very low body fat as well, so if they were jacked, you'd see it, too. And yet, ew, no muscle on gurls guys!!!
