Much as I love them I'm terrified of a movie version. I really hope it doesn't end up being the latest teen stars shoehorned in. Especially since all people's fan casts are terrible and most of them are well above teenager to even play it well.

Agreed. I think Runaways could end up being a disaster if the movie studio gets too obsessed with the teen market and casts all the wrong people. I just feel like it'll be "Teen Angst: the movie."

Casting for the MCU has been pretty good so far. I don't see why they'd start picking kids from the cast of Glee now.

It would make more sense as a TV show anyway. I mean, it's kind of basically "Buffy with superheroes: the comic" anyway.

My only rational hope is that Avengers will make so much money that the studio will have cash to spare, but then their stories will stop being fresh/actors get tired, and in that single window in time, where excess money + desperation to have a new hit from a similar source will = Runaways movie.

The Runaways would make a better television series than a movie. There's way too much gold to mine to shove it all into one movie with maybe a possibility of a sequel.

Also, for a second there I thought, "Wait. There is already a Runaways movie. Oh, you mean the comic, not Joan Jett. Never mind."

While I feel your pain, I think I'd rather have the movie scrapped in favor of an animated series.

Huh, I never knew a film version was being made. I've only read the Young Avengers/Runaways crossovers but I always wanted to get around to the series. NGL, a film version would probably help.

I hope it gets made. Of course it has a good chance of sucking (like all films, lol) but if nothing else it might get new people to check out the source material and that's always a positive thing.

I would kill for a good Runaways movie in the MCU, but there're so many ways it could go horribly wrong...

It's funny - I credit Joss Whedon with a lot of the things that AA got right that most Superhero movies get wrong. How BW was written especially. But I really don't want them to let him anywhere near a Runaways movie. Not even in an advising role.

Oh Whedon. The issues that went weeks late on delivery, gendered Xavin, wrecked Neco's ship and gave her a subplot that went nowhere and did nothing, and just seemed like an excuse to do mutant/steampunk NYC.

I don't know, man, sometimes I'm relieved because this and Y-The Last Man I just don't want them to eff up.

The movie-verse would have to be much bigger for this to work

Otherwise, it's going to look a bit out of place and cliche as hell, at least in Phase 1 or 2, and maybe up to Phase 3. If they ever do more than that, though, and if the Agents of SHIELD show does well in terms of building up a world of superheroes surrounding the movies, then probably Runaways (and, my own personal favorite, Young Avengers!) will be much more feasible.

Provided the fact that it's about kids doesn't turn it from a superhero movie into a kids' movie. Considering the darker subject matter Runaways is sometimes associated with, I sincerely hope not.

Ugh! This so much! I mean for the most part, the Marvel movies haven't been too bad, but I would kill to see a Runaway movie. I was hoping before they announced the new Joss Whedon show was going to be SHIELD, I was hoping he would make a Runaways show.

I'm forever bitter that the chances of a Young Avengers film are pretty much non-existent.

But yes, I would love a Runaways film or even a tv show! There's so much awesome in that series and I love Karolina forever and always and want her on a screen ;_; Maybe in/after Phase 3?? I refuse to give up hope.

I personally am annoyed with the Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2, etc so I'm with you, though I am holding out hope for an animated series. I need Karolina's rainbow-ness in animation! <3
