Being so hard up for female characters that you accept the introduction of a convenient vagina in the guys life really isn't that much better.

The fact that you view the female characters on BBT as nothing more than "convenient vaginas" is way more of an issue than the characters' problems themselves, I think.

I went into it expecting only one female character: the Smurfette (Penny). Frankly the fact that the girls have evolved to have their own existence and scenes that have nothing to do with the guys meets my low expectation for female character development.

Lucky for the show, I only watch for the (increasingly inaccurate as seasons progress) geek references.

Huh. I've not watched it religiously, but from what I have seen, when the girls are by themselves, conversation usually drifts around to the guys. I suppose I must be missing all the character development.

A bunch of it is the "one sided Amy-Penny relationship". But they also do fun stuff like SA dumpster diving and the "oops Penny was the bully that Bernadette and Amy despised in grade school" story line.
