That joyous feeling you got when you were a kid and summer vacation meant something. Like you would count down the days until school ended and you could sleep in and do all sorts of stuff. (Though, let's be honest, most of us just bummed around the house.) But I really miss that feeling.

The languor of Youth -- how unique and quintessential it is! How quickly, how irrecoverably, lost! The zest, the generous affections, the illusions, the despair, all the traditional attributes of Youth -- all save this -- come and go with us through life; again and again in riper years we experience, under a new stimulus, what we thought had been finally left behind, the authentic impulse to action, the renewal of power and its concentration on a new object; again and again a new truth is revealed to us in whose light all our previous knowledge must be rearranged. These things are a part of life itself; but languor -- the relaxation of yet unwearied sinews, the mind sequestered and self-regarding, the sun standing still in the heavens and the earth throbbing to our own pulse -- that belongs to Youth alone and dies with it.

The only solution mekkio.....become a teacher. Beat the system!

I always have to laugh whenever someone goes, "Hey, teachers have it easy. They have summers off!" As if teachers aren't scrambling for some part time summer work in order to keep their heads above water. I knew teachers who tutored privately. Most took retail jobs. My fifth grade teacher worked at a 7-11. (Yeah, that was a shock to walk into 7-11 to get a Slurpee and see Mrs. Brophy manning the counter. You better believe I went into "best behavior" mode.)

I have a useless degree in Special Education. :P I can't find a teaching job because teachers are not retiring. 7-11 4 Life.
