I find that reading fics for the ship/characters usually motivates me to get off my ass and start contributing. If all else fails, I read fics for the rival ship, which makes me really pissed off and eager to get revenge by writing my ship. It hasn't failed yet.

I'm working on my Debriel mini-bang entry, but I'm not making much progress right now, seeing as I just got into the shippy part of the Discworld fandom. So right now in writing a Downey/Vetinari fic but progress is still pretty slow because holy crap Vetinari you are so hard to write.

I know it's evil of me, but I'm *kind of* the same way. I'll read fics about my ships, realize they're awful and then I can't stop writing, because if THAT has a tone of likes and kudos and comments and recs, SURELY I can churn out something that gets a third of that and be quite satisfied.
