Is he unable to use the Internet, or do you just think he's unable to use the Internet?

I "can't handle this idea" because autism doesn't reduce someone to a mindless shell. It just doesn't! That's not how it works! People with autism can still think. They can communicate, if they're given ways to do that. The problem is that society has decided that autism is bad, and there's no point in trying to communicate with autistics, so they never get the opportunity to prove that they can.

he's unable to use the internet because he breaks electronics and is incapable of comprehending their function. he has very low cognitive skills

notice how they have no response to this

because even they know you can't just shout that 'the computer fails to understand his attempts at communication omg!!!'

I have a hard time with the Dreamwidth comment layout. It's hard to figure out what's new, and what I do and don't want to respond to. I overlooked the comment you replied to until you replied to it.

wait I thought a loud noise startled you but now it's a confusing layout

you have a lot of excuses for things

Allistics can't magically understand electronics either. They need to be taught. Autistics are at a disadvantage here because they often can't absorb information and skills by watching others display them.

So of course he can't use a computer, if no one's taught him how.

no actually current research in child development indicates that children are capable of using technology implicitly and instinctually. this is actually partially WHY people with developmental disabilities adapt to touch screens and things so easily (like me - who is using a tablet with a modified display keyboard and intuition software because I am only moderate-functioning and cannot express myself on a computer with my motor deficiency) but I really need to stop doing your 'faking autism' homework for you wow

You're right. I'm a big giant faker that fakes. I couldn't possibly be confused by one thing and distressed by another at the same time, and it couldn't possibly be that the loud noise happened after I missed this comment because I dislike the comment system, whereas I didn't miss the other comment but didn't immediately respond because there was a loud noise.

I'm also a faker because I don't know every last possible thing about child development. And because computers confuse and distress me when they don't work the way I think they should and I had a very hard time first learning how to use one and still have difficulties with typing. Those are definitely fake things that are fake.

Wow, no one in our family has ever thought to try to teach him things because we are complete fucking idiots. I'll get right on this
