Brag About Something
So, all everyone can talk about at work is how good I look since I lost a lot of weight and that I have a perfect hourglass figure and that my ass is really nice. I mean, I know the implication is I looked terrible before, but whatever. MY HARD WORK IS PAYING OFF AND PEOPLE ARE NOTICING!
What do you want to brag about?
Re: Brag About Something
and if that isn't the most awkward compliment I have given anyone...I love bragging, except right now I don't have a lot to brag about? Well my mum did buy me an iMac? Does that count? Because it is awesome! And I finally found some money to buy a new phone, it is shiny:)
Eh something real to brag about? I got an B on an exam without reading (which was above the average grade, 6 out of 70 people did better than me), I also got an B on my oral exam without doing much work (and again about the same amount of people did better than me)! You cant say that without sounding like you are bragging, it isn't my fault that I remember mostly everything I read and hear...

(Anonymous) 2013-05-24 12:33 am (UTC)(link)I always feel really smug when I do well on tests without really studying but there really is no way to talk about it without sounding like an ass. I feel you.
I just took a final yesterday that was 50 questions in 50 minutes. The entire semester I took all the online weekly quizzes using online flashcards past students had created, and literally spent three hours before the test cramming 900 q&a's into my brain. I did the test in ten minutes and got 44/50. I kinda felt like a total badass walking out of the class.
Re: Brag About Something
Congrats on the test! I did the same before my oral exam, I read through an about 200 pages long raport (ignored the explanations, read the statistics) in the hour or so before I went in and preformed, I still remember most of the facts, which is annoying... When will I ever need to know that 86,7% of the Norwegian population uses one of NRKs services daily?
Oh do you have people constantly tell you that if you just worked a bit harder you would do better? Because I do, and what I want to say (but don't) is: Why should I? I perform in the top 10% without working, why should I waste my energy to get a bit more right?
For me it got even worse when my new friend is basically just as smart as me, we end up in our little bubble and well talking to people whom don't get stuff as fast is more tiering* now than it was before, because I am so used to talking to her...
*Is that even the right word? I should just go to sleep...
Re: Brag About Something
(That's the right word, but it's "tiring.")
Re: Brag About Something
Though I wish I had people telling me the same when I was in High School, then again as I never really learnt anything in school as such, it would not have worked...
(I knew it looked wrong, but spellcheck said it wasn't spelt wrong... Thank you for telling me!)

(Anonymous) 2013-05-24 12:30 am (UTC)(link)Anywho, my brag. I started fucking around in photoshop making au graphics for this otp of mine because of this one meme going around tumblr. I'm not all that great at it and some of them are pretty meh, but a few of them I look at and just get so excited over. I'm fucking proud of them and I cannot wait to post them.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-24 12:50 am (UTC)(link)booty booty booty rockin' er'rywhere
pics or it didn't happen!
(jokes!)
Congrats! It's def a weird feeling getting complimented on weight loss - feeling like it would be a negative judgment on 'old me' was a big factor in me resisting getting into shape for a long time. But finally I said 'fuck it, if I'm awesome now I'm still going to be awesome when I'm fit, I'll just be healthier. If people happen to start registering how awesome I am because I fit more neatly into superficial societal ideals of beauty, then so be it. And if they don't that's okay too. I know I'm awesome, now I'm going be physically awesome too.'
On the other hand, it's a pretty good feeling when people tell you they think you're hot, and definitely can do wonders for the self esteem. So again, congrats!
(Oh yeah, bragging! Um, I'm just feeling like a pretty successful human at the moment since I've been dealing with a few life issues over the last few months, and I've managed to not only not have an anxiety breakdown but to actually take on more responsibilties and feel better about myself. So yeah, that's my brag, however vague it may be ;))

(Anonymous) 2013-05-24 01:44 am (UTC)(link)Uh, well I'm getting more work so I guess people like what I'm doing. I just need to fuck it up less. This in turn translates into making my two trips this summer (E3 and PAX Prime) less painful on my bank account. :)

It's really pretty easy, you just have to have a place to lay out the folded sheet at about the halfway point.
Put your hand into a corner of the sheet, seam *out*. Fingertips in the 'pointy' part of the corner. Drape the opposite corner, seam *in*, over your hand/the first corner. Do the same with the second corner. So now you have the sheet folded in half, with the corners tucked inside each other, one on your right hand, one on your left hand.
Fold it in half *again*, with all four corners over one hand hand. Now lay it out flat on something with the elastic side up, so you see the curved part of the elastic. Depending on the size of your sheet (we have a king bed), take each side and either fold it to the middle, then fold the middle over (for a big sheet), or simply fold it into thirds.
You're left with a long, narrow rectangle of folded sheet that you can either then fold in thirds (small sheet) or again, fold the ends to the middle, then fold the middle over. Either way, you end with a nice, tidy square.
Weirdly enough, this Ozzy look-alike does it pretty much like I do, except his sheet is small. :) And I don't use my chin or do seal noises.

What I do is put the design I want on my computer screen, put the shirt over my monitor, trace the design with a washable marker, and then go over it with fabric paint. (The stuff designed for screen printing, not that puffy crap.)
I've made myself Nirvana and Screaming Trees shirts that way, and I might do one with a Shel Silverstein illustration (probably the one in my icon) next!

(Anonymous) 2013-05-24 04:36 am (UTC)(link)It's sort of a silly thing to brag about, I guess, because lol retail job, but I feel really proud of myself when I put in a lot of work to uphold the standards of our store and get recognized for it. It also makes me happy when I'm able to find solutions for people even though we don't have exactly what they're looking for c:
I'm also proud of myself for having a good day with regards to my ADD, because I had a lot to get done, and I was able to work quickly so that my coworkers who were helping me didn't have to do EVERYTHING for me. I've been sort of off-kilter lately because my last two days off got commandeered by my partner's parents, but I finally got properly caught up on my sleep and it felt really nice to be focused and high-energy.
