I finally figured out what irked me with TGITF oh my god. I mean, I loved the actress (forgetting her name and her character's name oop) and there were aspects of the episode I did like, but the Doctor's obsession with her at the expense of his companions is definitely what made me side-eye it.

I had a weird experience with GITF. Like everyone, I loved the hell out of the concept and framework. Unlike everyone, who had moaned about him getting himself stuck in the past and leaving Rose and Mickey, I was confused because...I had immediately just thought he would've had to protect the timeline, Reinette or no, and so I felt kind of lost and cut off from everyone else's opinions when I tried to find out what other people had said.

On the other hand, the jaw-dropping classism and snide dismissal of the foundations of the French Revolution and class warfare in general offended me so much I wanted to throw something across the room after watching it. And mind you, I was only 16 at the time. Yet no one else seemed to be complaining about that.
